Tom looks like a fun project for a young man or a retired man who is young at heart.I assume the mast is somewhere. If not, I'd recommend everyone read a hilarious book "The Boat That Wouldn't Float" with special attention to the chapter were-in they find masts for the schooner and go to install them. It's the funniest sailing book you will ever read.Jerry of Shpritz On Friday, March 2, 2018 3:13 PM, "Tom Vandiver bs… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats]" <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> wrote: Sent: Sunday, February 25, 2018 7:48 PM Subject: Pictures Here are some pics. Thanks Gerald, Yes, the mast for the Cal 40 is on our fenced storage lot sporting a new AwlGrip paint job. If anyone buys the boat and has it transported by truck, I will take it to the Pensacola Shipyard so it can be loaded. You are correct, the Cal 40 is a project, but for only $5,000 it is a steal. If I did not already have four boats, (Cal 46, 25'Deck boat, 22 Panga & 12 aluminum skiff), I would buy it. I have always wanted a Cal 40 since I was involved as race committee at Long Beach Yacht Club, Congressional Cup when we used them. Local owners would loan their Cal 40's to the LBYC and skippers from all over would compete in match racing. OHH, the good old days...! I read and enjoyed "The Boat That Would Not Float" several years back. I think I will get another copy and read it again.
