Edward, the Cal 29 for $2100 is the one that's is interesting? BTW, where's the Cal 36 you've snap shots located? Did any of the Cal36's have a cruise interior or were they mostly stacked bunks for a racing crew? I keep looking at this Cal 34 Mk-III for $19,500 with a luxyoreius interior, but shucks, I know a) ain't no other boat as fun to sail on as me Cal 24-1...like a go-cart, or a sports car, being close to the waves makes you feel like you're scooting along much faster than you are; and washing your hands after eating is just leaning over a bit and dipping your hand thru the water rushing by, b) can't seem to find the energy to maintain my simple little boat as I should, let alone a much larger one, (next biggie project: wash the nasty fast growing black spots of mildew off the interior surfaces: YUCK!) c)I know there was something else, but I just got brain fade. Oh yeah...there's a Cal 29 up in Channel Islands which has been on the market for many many moons, for $5900, with rebuilt deezil, barrier coated and bottom painted, new standing rigging and lots of nav. electronics that's probably a smarter choice, but it too needs cosmetics...and..it's dreaded beam inspected. It has a wheel, which some folks prefer but I'm not really keen about. Does the wheel give you a better trade off in less stress to steer vs. less feel and sensitivity? And lastly, there's a clean epoxy 34' Brown Trimaran for sale for about $22K. They're supposed to be the best tris made, but how do you race those against keel boats, the end ties go for 2X the cost, and...do they tack up wind worth a damn? The concept of a boat that sails flat is attractive...but..Arrgh..it ain't a Cal!!
