Hi, Has anyone with a Cal 35 Cruise (ca 1974), or similar boat, replaced their fuel tanks? If so, who did they get the tank(s) from and what kind of tanks? I would be interested in hearing recommendations about guys who do custom tanks as well. cheers, peter Peter S. Ford pe… [at] hotmail.com

Hello Peter I replaced the tanks in my 1975 2-46 a couple years ago, I researched all the options custom plastic, custom bladders, I chose aluminum (6061-t6) built by Lee Shore Aluminum boats in Port Angeles, They build a lot of commercial fishing boats as well as boats for the Navy. I replaced my fuel tank on my Cal 29 several years ago. An aluminum replacement was made by Coastline Equipment in Bellingham WA. I carefully measured the old one and sent them specs for an exact fit. I figured it would be more trouble and money to have to redo all of the cribbing if I changed the tank size or tried to "save money" by going with an "off the shelf" tank. The worst part was I needed that mythical midget with six foot long arms and really strong hands to get in the back of the engine compartment and wrestle that thing out and in.
