Sailing Day

Nice morning sail, west wind, which means flat water here in Chicago. Light to start but it picked up later. We had the Cal close-hauled going over 7 knots with the mainsheet half out. Some heel, but you know Cals sail best on their feet. Full main and #2 genny. Great day on the water. And a bonus, my A4 is purring like a kitten after the yard guys replaced the starter. It was not releasing from the flywheel. I haven't seen the bill yet! Don't care, worth every cent.David, Cal29 411

Two days of threatening weather here. Tuesday the dark clouds were
moving in after work so I stayed home and cut the grass. Three
raindrops fell on me. Should have gone sailing. Wed. night I actually
rowed out to the boat but dark clouds were brewing in the N and W, and
then one directly W starting forming an anvil shape, and after that they
all got darker. Looked like squalls headed our way. I puttered around
on the boat and when things got more threatening I rowed back to shore.
It didn't rain at all until midnight, of course. Maybe tonight we'll
have some stable weather.
