Bruce, I had one custom made for Magic, our 1979 Cal 2-27. It attached to the stern railing. The company that made if for me is Beaver Brand Canvas in Fort Lauderdale. Custom boat canvas fabrication including boat covers, boat enclosures, boat tops and marine upholstery. I had a bimini built for my cruising boat last year. A lot of thought went into where to place mountings, whether it would interfere with sheets, sails, mooring lines, etc. Even within a class, boats can be slightly different, due to placement of newer equipment. And do you want other features? Mine has a rack onto which I have mounted solar panels. For those reasons, I recommend having one custom built. Mine was built by Steve Kissinger of Kissinger Canvas in the Bay Area. He was wonderful. He was a measure three times and cut once type of craftsman. These things are also pricey, by the way. I purchased an inexpensive 2 bow bimini top with Sunbrella fabric and a suncover for my Cal 2-27 for about $300 as I remember from CoversDirect.com 866-626-8377 and had an exceptionally good customer experience. The top is mounted on the cockpit rails behind the sheet winches and is stored in a collapsed position bunged to the aft stay. It is an off the shelf inexpensive aluminum frame with nylon fittings. The Covers Direct folks worked with me to get the exact Sunbrella color we needed ( Pacific Blue) including returning the first one I ordered which turned out to be the incorrect shade (my Mistake). This is for weekend fresh water lake use. I would not get this top if I was planning for exended use offshore in salt water, get Stainless frame and fittings if you are going there....Good Luck, Frank Frank W.
