One way Valves in a bilge line

I have what appears to be a common problem with my bilge pump. The pump runs fine but when it stops water left in the line flows back into the bilge. Currently I have an electric bilge and a manual bilge pump connected with a Y-valve a couple of feet ahead the stern exhaust port. I was thinking of replacing the Y-valve with a Y-valve with one-way exit ports. In doing some research, I have come across blogs that say this is not a good idea even to the point where it could nullify my insurance. I would welcome this group's input on the subject. I don't understand what you are saying about your existing setup but I might offer some suggestions. I have two pumps. One is large with a large hoes going to a dedicated fitting on the stern. The other is small with a small hose that goes to the same fitting with a T fitting right at the stern. That line has a check valve that keeps water from flowing back. Probably would be better to have an anti syphon there instead but that is what I have. The amount of water that flows back if the large pump every runs is a lot but it never runs and is there just in case I get a large leak. The small one is an automatic pump and goes on every few minutes. It lasts almost 5 years and I always buy the extended warranty so only have to buy a new extended warranty every 5 years but the pump itself is free (after the first time). I also have a manual pump that is in the same line as the large manual one but with a valve setup a bit complicated to explain. Basically, the manual pump draws water from forward of the check valve and deposits it aft of the check valve. That way either pump can work without manual intervention other than working the pump.
