Hi, All. Yes, this your human moderator. Well, maybe not as high on the
evolutionary scale as some others, but still within the "human" definition.
In your posts, please include your name (at least first), your location, and
your boat model. This helps members answer questions more completely and
more quickly, and to ID parts sources.
We have a number of new folks. Please introduce yourselves to the group
with a message and some info on what you want to discuss. Friendly group
here.
Cheers

So you've survived encounters with the physicians and hospitals and
such? They've left you with some human functioning?

Hello to everyone, My name is Frank Brown, 65 years old, retired and live in Atlanta. 6 months ago bought a 1977 Cal 2-27 located on Lake Lanier and am just now finishing the restoration of her, Cherokee Rose. 39 years ago I bought a brand new Cal 39 tri cabin model, Amazing Grace, and had it in the West Indies Yacht Charter fleet in the BVI for about 7 years. I then sailed it all over the Caribbean, the Bahamas and Florida. About 1995 I sold her to a family in Ft Lauderdale Florida....Just curious if anyone has knowledge of my original Cal and her travels since the sale in 1995. Working on Cherokee Rose has be a trip down memory lane for me with this little sister of my original boat!!! All my best to you all....Cals are great boats, I would not have considered buying anything else!!!

Charlie,You've got multi-Cal Competition. I just put a big deposit down on another CalAnd what Cal would that be?Another Cal 24 Mk-1. What else? Now I have two Cal 24's, so, with a couple of four by fours and some bolts, and I can make a Cal Catamaran, sell the lead for what the boats are worth, and go surfing.Surf City, here we come!Cal 24-1 Shpritz #71Cal 24-1 Formerly "Zest" owned by Steve Cole, president of the Cal 24-1 Association. Sail number Sixty one, or something. Lastly owned by Roy Cundiff whose wife wanted a boat that had standing head room, a big 27' Morgan. Still classic plastic. He had poured a fortune into the old Cal and won a lot of trophies with it. Roy was a Cal dealer from the early days, and worked for North Sails for a time, again, in the early days of Dacron.JerryMarina del Rey and possibly, Wilmington, CA.Shpritz is up for sale $1500 or best offer. I think I'm going to miss her. Sigh.
Weird, when I try to compose and post an original message to Ca… [at] yahoo.com it bounces back and says I can post because I'm not a member, but when I post a reply it goes thru.

Frank, welcome, we're Helen(74) and Edward(65) sailing in California. We just acquired cal 39 Northern Light, round about through auction. It was owned by a friend Jeff who bought her after we found her listed for same in Florida sometime after 2005. He sailed to Bahamas, then trucked from Texas to SF Bay. Took a buyout when harbor started closing in 2017. We found a way to buy at auction in 2018. While reinstating the documentation, we discovered she'd been in charter. Some company using grace in some naming. This is a tricabin. She has a metal toe rail, perkins 4108, and some interesting(odd) portlight configurations. This could be your girl. I always dreamed of this model, but really can't part with our 36 yet. The 39 has a dis mountable cutter rig, roller furling, and both main and jib are practically brand new cruising sails by Leading Edge (Joe Rudka) of San Mateo.

Good morning Helen, how very nice of you to respond to my inquiry. It could be my girl, she did not have a cutter rig, metal toe rail and had the standard portlights when I had her but those could have been added later....the hull number on the transom had been somewhat glassed over from a repair done when she was in charter....If you have some pictures that might help....I will try to think of other features that might help identify my girl....Happy Easter to you all!!!
