It's not fun. I did it with a packing nut wrench and a pipe wrench. 2 packing nut wrenches would've been easier. Found one on the boat (after the fact) that has the handle cut down to allow for turns more than a mm at a time. Good luck, Sean 1969 CAL34 cruising edition St. Marks, FL
