Minney's might have one. The length you need is equal to "J" the distance between, roughly speaking, the front surface of your mast to a vertical line from where your forestay attachment point is at your bow. Forespar would have more specific measurements, plus the correct diameter of the tube. I couldn't find the one I had for my boat and the salesman suggested I come down and look in their pile of stuff. Fortunately, my "new" boat's PO lent me his for the time being...and eventually, just yesterday, I found mine buried in a pile of aluminum solar scrap next to my garage.Jerry 'Commodore Vanderbilt II' Sobel, "Shpritz" and "Grand Dillusion", Cal 24 *"O.G." boats. Helpful. Thanks for the reply. As far as diameter goes, probably anything manufactured for that purpose in that length would work? I’ll get busy. > On Sep 6, 2019, at 9:03 PM, Gerald Sobel so… [at] yahoo.com [Cal_Boats] <Ca… [at] yahoogroups.com> wrote: > > Minney's might have one. According to my database your J is 12 feet and if you want a used one, anything that length or a little longer would do. It is pretty easy to cut them down to the length you need as long as you don't get one that is too heavy. Don, are you planning on racing the boat? I ask because ow the spin pole length is measured can make a difference. Cal 25 (flat/raised deck) has a J of 10.0 feet and the spin pole diameter is 2.0 inches. I’m trying to recall the ID. I think it was 1.75 inches, so I think the material thickness of the pole is 1/8 inch. Your J on the 2-27 is 12.0 feet. That would suggest that your minimum pole diameter would be 2.0 inches with 2.25 inches preferred. Might be good to find the standard diameter sizes for the pole jaws. That would make a good pole diameter indicator. Forespar recommends 2.5 inch diameter for a Cal 27-2 with a 12 foot J. A few more items to think about vis-à-vis the spinnaker pole, Don. Are you planning on end-for-end or dip-pole gybing? Are you familiar with bridle attachment as opposed to single point center or end attachment? The bridle would allow you to use a somewhat skinnier pole. Your foredeck person will love you for it, even if that person is you.
