I believe it would be nice to have specific model categories so that people can post photos of their configurations. For instance, the layout is very different in my 3-34 from a 2-34. Other categories can handle everything else. If I left a model out or typed it incorrectly, please let me know. These things can be changed if they don't work out.
If the site becomes too busy for my server, I will have to upgrade. I put a link on the site for donations under "Suggestions". Its not that expensive. I have spent around $100 so far including the SSL certificate (so the site is secure).
I've already requested the download from Yahoo. Hopefully, it will come through.
Please sign up on the website and share feedback and suggestions under "Suggestions" on the forum. There may be usability issues. I have only tested it myself, so please help me test it.

A few points. 1) there is overlap between models for most topics, engines, racing, general interest that having separate tabs for cal-20 and cal-22 seems like the wrong way to go. Look at the tabs on the Sailing Anarchy for some guidance. Maintenance, Gear, Racing. I would think for this group, just a few categories or maybe only one would be the right choice. If you do make everything by model number, I am out of here for obvious reasons. I am thinking a very minimum number of topics and then threads within each topic would be best. 2) I read that getting the old data off the Yahoo server is so difficult it seems impossible unless you requires a dump of the entire site. That apparently takes 30 days for the request so you might want to get on that. Otherwise you have to download things one item at a time, which is basically impossible.
3) You need to put up something to stop spammers. If they get through, they can put up hundreds of messages at once and they all have to be deleted one at a time. I used the question "What color is a fire truck if it isn't yellow?" I found that if you say what is 2 + 2 the bot will answer 4. And any question with the answer in it doesn't work. Those hard to read things where you have to type something after trying to read it don't work either. Right now I use "What color is yellow snow if it isn't white?" and have yet to have anybody get through it..

Members seem divided on whether we want functional categories (e.g., engines, hull maintenance) or boat model based categories (e.g., Cal 20, Cal 25, Cal 40). Would a cross matrix be possible (e.g., engine – Cal 40)?
For proper terminology is one of our boats a CAL 20 or a Cal 20? A CAL 33, or a Cal 33?

Most of us probably have a bunch of other odd interests.. I'm on a forum dealing with old console radio/phonos--the big old Magnavox, Zenith, or RCA console that used to grace living rooms. It is by far the easiest to access and use of any I've encountered. Posting photos is a click away--no resizing or other manipulations required. Here's a link:
