In the light of day I have come to realize that Harleigh and others are right. I should have deleted rather hit the send button. It is one of the norms in this forum to not discuss politics. This should be about boating. That said, it warms my heart and makes my day to see that the outrageous violating of the norms of the Presidency are being discussed even in places where they are not normally discussed. What Nixon or Clinton did was zero compared to what is this President is doing and it is not surprising that people feel the need to violate other norms in response. Attacking the messenger is obviously the norm for our President. I am happy that the replies to an obvious violation of norms here have been a statement of what the norms are rather than the start of a shit fight. One final thought. When Bush was President I would talk politics with my friends. We would discuss if he was the worst President ever or not. Now I am afraid to talk Politics with my friends for fear that one might start defending Trump at which point I would be forced to defriend them. Besides, it is pointless. It is like discussing if the sun rises in the east or if the earth is flat. OK, not that bad. More like discussing if Sandy Hook was faked. There really is nothing to discuss. Thanks Allen for all you have offered to this community of serious boaters and I wished to add that the biggest threat to our country regardless of political interests is the silencing of the media and channels of communication formerly taken for granted being reduced to where even a letter to an editor is nearly impossible. Let us all take the time to listen, read, and talk to preserve our freedom of speech. As our access to harbors, waters, services are rapidly shrinking, being told what to do and where and with whom to do it is growing. The big picture is obvious. Those of us who love and support our boats, boating, and the joys of sharing in these pursuits will continue herein to preserve our site and the relationships we have maintained, because it is healthy to do so. I love this group and politics are depressing and naturally confrontational. Let's keep it to boating, Helen, SF Bay,Half Moon Bay, and Monterey Bay. West coast by birth and berths.
